By studying rebuilding efforts of the townspeople in Greensburg, Kansas following the devastating 2007 tornado, kids will learn about methods of environmentally conscientious building, which can be applied to STEM discussions. Using information found in this selection from the list of STEM books, assign architecture activities and ask students to think about how they would use basic STEM concepts to design a home or building that is kind to the environment and resilient to dangerous weather.
