5. Save the Elephants

Try asking students to solve this environmental puzzle: a lake in Africa is suffering from the explosion of an invasive weed species. Left unchecked, the weed will destroy the native plants and water source of the local elephant population. The goal of the game is to race to calculate the surface area of the lake, which is shaped like a familiar polar curve, so that the correct amount of weed-killer can be ordered. Set a timer to increase pressure on students to solve the problem quickly.
