2. Hydroponics by Design
Many designs exist for hydroponic systems and each are suitable for different settings. By incorporating STEAM concepts, ask students to design their ideal systems that will include thoroughly understood hydroponics concepts, combined with artistic creativity. Whether students design a vertical, ebb flow, or floating raft system, encourage them to dig deeply and tap into their imaginations. They should consider the area in which the system will be constructed, whether it is their own school classroom, or on top of a building in a large city. Unlike the first activity, this one is entirely theoretical, allowing students to expand their ideas beyond their classroom’s walls and stretch their imaginations and creativity.
