4. Make it Fun to Grow at Home
Using hydroponics to grow plants isn’t difficult and students should see how easy using this approach to farming can be to become more self-sufficient. In addition to the larger projects, there are hydroponics activities that simplify the concepts necessary for success. Using empty water bottles, students can create their own hydroponic systems in class. As the San Francisco Gate illustrates, most of the materials for this project are usually available in most classrooms – except for the perlite and fertilizer. After completing their projects, students can bring home these systems and teach their families about hydroponic gardening.
