5. Find Ways to Boost Student Engagement
It can be hard to get students motivated and excited about learning. Brainstorm ways to get children eager about coming to school, such as creating assignments that connect your subject to the real world. Go beyond word problems and have students apply what they’ve learned to solve real-world problems. The STEM Type Quiz is a great beginning-of-the-year activity that will get kids excited about learning STEM content because it can show them that STEM classes aren’t just a graduation requirement, but a stepping stone to a great career.
The weeks leading up to a new school year are a great time to look back on previous struggles and prepare for how to improve on them. Just a small fraction of your summer vacation spent dedicated to getting ready can pay off big time once the first day of school rolls around!
