3. Speak Up Respectfully
Being resilient entails embodying the traits of courage and conviction. The strength of these traits is part of the foundation upon which resiliency is built. Encourage students to ask questions and voice their problems or concerns – even if the issues involve the pupil-teacher relationship – but emphasize the importance of expressing opposition while maintaining respect. Tell students that if they would like to ever discuss performance or an in-class issue, a private student-teacher meeting can be scheduled.
