5. Promote the Spirit of Giving
Many companies engage in philanthropic efforts and have different causes to which they donate. Have students study the philanthropy of different companies. They should examine company leaders, causes they support, donation totals, volunteer work, and—if stated—the reasons these businesses support specific causes. Not only will students develop a greater sense of helping others, they will learn how philanthropy factors into a business.
Before taking these steps, apply for a teacher externship to learn more about business principles and apply this knowledge when teaching students. Cultivating 21st century skills and preparing for new-collar jobs are extremely important, and integrating these business principles can augment those efforts.
