3. The Little Prince
Recognized around the globe as an integral children’s book and lauded in France as one of the country’s finest works, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince” is an inspirational work of science fantasy. After his plane fails in the Sahara Desert, a pilot encounters a child prince who reveals his journey from one planet to the next, meeting different characters who resemble distinctive adult traits. Create a fantastic STEM world by hanging renderings of each planet from the story and include the characters from the book and Netflix movie. After reading the book (first) and seeing the movie (second), ask students to discuss the importance of each character and the real STEM concepts within this fantastic world.
