Few topics ignite students’ passion like the environment. Pick a different ecosystem to highlight in your room each month, quarter, or semester. When focusing on the ocean, for example, hang paper jellyfish from your ceiling, create a bulletin board about the deadliest ocean creatures, and have students prototype devices to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Check out our suggestions for more environmental activities for any grade level. Keep sustainability and environmentalism at the center of everything you do and watch your students get excited about learning in a whole new way.
Encourage students to contribute to classroom themes throughout the entire school year. If your students are genuinely passionate about something, consider incorporating it into the theme for your classroom!
