Be Prepared for Glitches

It is inevitable that there will be some sort of technical issue along the way with one-to-one computing . Every single week I encounter software updates, websites that are down, or problems connecting to the wireless. There may even be compatibility issues between specific websites and your device. Things that work perfectly on your home computer may not function the same way on the devices at school. Tablets are especially tricky in this regard.

Do a dry run of any activity you are planning to use on the device prior to giving it to your students. It is best to do this the day of to ensure that any software or website you may need is up to date. Your school’s technology guru will be your best friend when you come across problems that you don’t know how to fix. Find out their favorite candy and keep a supply handy!
