2. Real Physics in Rattlebacks

Using a seemingly simple rattleback toy, teachers can reveal some of the mysteries in the physics of motion by engaging students in activities to explore the science of movement. The small, oblong-shaped toy will spin in one direction, but fails to move continuously when moving the opposite way. Clarkson University provides instructions and free rattlebacks to teachers who are interested in exploring physics with their students by using this project-based learning activity.
