This fictional tale reveals to children Emmet Roche’s glorious, yet misunderstood, mind that leads him to try to convince residents of his Iowa town to prepare for the Blizzard of 1888. Share with students the importance of weather and climate science by tracking any differences in seasonal patterns in the local area over the last five years.
Introducing the littlest students to STEM books will set a foundation for a love of STEM and more complex concepts students will encounter later in their educational journeys. Use STEM books in the classroom to share stories of the pioneers who were once also little students.
