STEM books5. The Most Magnificent Thing

By Ashley Spires

Grades: Kindergarten through 2

As one of the best STEM books, this tale tells the story of a young girl who sets out to build the most “magnificent thing.” After failing many times to create her “magnificent thing,” the girl wants to quit, but her loyal dog encourages her to push forward and carry on with the project, which leads her to eventually perfect the invention. Ask students to examine the steps they’ve taken with experiments and discuss how a mistake or error they made became a positive experience.
