4. What is my main role in the classroom?
Looking back as you do this teacher self-assessment, remember why you wanted to be a teacher. You are the only one who truly knows why you became a teacher, but probably at the core you wanted to help people — and you do that by teaching, encouraging, and making a difference in a child’s life. Have you been a role model to your students to achieve these goals? It’s difficult to not let the standards you must teach to, student misbehavior, or administrative rules push those goals into the background and cause them to fade. But do an honest teacher self-assessment and remember your main role is be that person who is always remembered by your students; who was inspirational, motivational, and made learning fun, exciting, and a lifelong ambition.
